Acapulco Mexican Restaurant Y Cantina

Happy Holidays! This week we had our company Christmas lunch at Acapulco's in Westwood and I was so happy to learn that they had a good number of lacto-vegetarian options. Acapulco's has locations in both California and Oregon. According to Julio, the Westwood manager, Acapulco's does not use chicken broth or any sort of meat in their rice and beans. He indicated the following menu items to be without eggs, meat, or fish:

  • Fresh Tableside Guacamole
  • Quesadillas (cheese)
  • Veggie Fajitas
  • Enchilada (cheese)

The Chile Relleno can be made without eggs if requested in advance.

I was pleased to see that their lunchtime buffet had cheese enchiladas. I was also pleased at how helpful Julio was. I recommend talking to him for any questions or concerns you may have. The restaurant's phone number is (310)208-3884. A long time ago a reader has asked me to look into other Mexican restaurants like El Torito to get the lowdown. Unfortunately, despite of my calling 3 times and emailing several times, El Torito has still not responded. Maybe I will have better luck in 2009.

I'm curious how they make Chile Rellenos without eggs.

I will reconfirm this. But if you look at my post on La Serenata they state they can make it without eggs if you give advance notice.

Hi Susan,

This time I spoke with the person who answered the phone at the restaurant who said he spoke with the chef. They said it is only without eggs if you request it. This is why I normally only try and work with corporate offices. Very frustrating. I have clarified the post. I hope this did cause any sort of trouble for anyone. Thanks for questioning it.
