Our Go Eggless reader Ruchir inquired about Uno Chicago Grill, a very popular restaurant that was named "America's #1 Healthiest Chain Restaurant" by Health Magazine and one of the ten "Best Family Restaurant Chains" by Parents Magazine.
Their website lists the ingredients for all of their food, and even has a separate section on vegetarian dishes, defined as being "prepared without meat, poultry, or seafood." Specific ingredients are also provided to narrow down what has eggs and dairy, and they also provide detailed information such as whether the animal rennet in cheese.
Something that I inquired about on the website was why they list "fish/shellfish" as an allergen for items such as crispy cheese dippers that do not have any fish component listed in the ingredients. A hospitality representative for Uno's responded via email that it was due to risk of cross contamination. Their fish is cooked in the same oil.
